Young professionals, down-sizing baby boomers, and, yes, even families are choosing to live in downtown Pittsburgh for a variety of reasons.  In July, 2008, The New York Times called Pittsburgh “a cool—dare we say hip—city”.  The cultural district, Point State Park, football, baseball and hockey stadiums, museums, shopping, restaurants, and easy commute to work are just a few of these reasons. The Great Allegheny Passage Bike Trail begins here in the city and goes all the way to Cumberland Maryland.  Boating,  kayaking and various water sports are all right here.

Prices for townhomes and condos vary widely in the city, and there are a range of new residential buildings, both in process and on the drawing boards.  In general, you’ll find that “per square foot” pricing for real estate in Downtown Pittsburgh is more reasonable than in many other major metropolitan areas of similar size. There are a significant range of luxury condominiums and townhomes available for purchase in the city. Additionally, there are ever increasing opportunities available for those wishing to spend $250,000 and under.

A significant property tax abatement is currently available in the City of Pittsburgh to those who purchase condos or town homes that are either newly constructed or located in existing buildings that have been fully renovated within the Golden Triangle, that is the triangular area between where Pittsburgh’s three rivers converge…the heart of Pittsburgh.
