Rosslyn Farms Homes & Real Estate

Although Rossyln Farms may be the smallest borough in Allegheny County, the benefits that this community has to offer to a potential home buyer can be big.  Just 5 miles west of downtown Pittsburgh, this just over 300 acre community was founded in 1902.  The real estate brochure from that time period states: “Rosslyn Farms is the ideal summer and winter residence place for people who must be within quick and easy reach of Pittsburgh”, and the same can be said today.  Rosslyn Farms is unassuming, intimate and immediately accessible to every “big city” amenity. It has been called Pittsburgh’s best kept secret.

Many of Rosslyn Farms earlier homes were built of concrete stucco and stone that had been quarried locally, making this community’s older bungalows, four squares, and Dutch colonials are particularly distinctive.  As the community continued to develop through the 1960’s, the diversity of homes styles widened but quality of materials and design remained consistent.  Today, you’ll find a diverse collection of unique homes in Rosslyn Farms, most on generous lots with mature trees and landscapes.

“Small town” friendliness and a rare sense of community characterize Rosslyn Farms, making it fitting that the appealing Community Center is a focal point of the neighborhood.  Originally built as a one room school house in 1910, the Rosslyn Farms Community Center presently houses a meeting room, gymnasium, library and resale shop where this particularly active community club hosts a variety of events throughout the year.  The annual Halloween parade and Christmas Eve carol sing in Parrish Park have become family traditions for generations of  “Rosslyn Farmers”.  The 400 residents also enjoy their own community swimming pool, soccer fields and tennis courts.  Additionally, this borough hires its own police force.

Rosslyn Farms is served by the Carlynton School District and a variety of private elementary and secondary schools such as St. Margaret’s of Scotland Elementary and Bishop Canevin High School.

Transportation to downtown Pittsburgh can be made via bus or drive in about 20 minutes or less.  This community connects to the west busway, a private bus lane that bypasses rush hour traffic congestion to and from the city.  The Pittsburgh International Airport is an easy 10 minutes drive away.

Prices for single family homes in Rosslyn Farms begin at about $250,000 up to about $600,000.
